A score for every sound
See which words and sounds were clear, and which one tripped you up, like a “th” that came out as an “s”.
Free beta · Android
Read aloud, get a score sound by sound, and hear exactly how a native speaker says it. Five minutes a day is enough to hear the difference.
Made for learners who understand English but want to say it clearly.
See which words and sounds were clear, and which one tripped you up, like a “th” that came out as an “s”.
Listen to every line in a British or American voice, slower or faster, then try it yourself.
Hear the whole text while the words light up, then read it yourself without stopping to build fluency.
Short games with word pairs like ship / sheep and light / right, chosen for speakers of your language.
Daily streak, weekly average, achievements and a gentle reminder, so practice becomes a habit.
Your voice is analysed on your phone and then forgotten. No account, no ads, no tracking. Works offline.
The app speaks your language: available in 28 languages, including Malagasy, French, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and Swahili.
Pick a text: everyday phrases, short stories, job interviews, travel, or paste your own. Hear it read by a native voice.
Tap the microphone and read. Line by line, or the whole text in one go.
See your score, replay your voice next to the native one, and practise the sounds that need work.
Shown here in French: the app uses your phone’s language.
SpeakNow is coming to the Play Store. Until then, you can install the test version directly. It takes about a minute.
Open this page on your phone and tap Download the beta. If your browser asks whether to keep the file, tap Download or Keep.
Tap the notification when the download finishes, or find SpeakNow-beta.apk in your Downloads.
Android protects you from apps that don’t come from the Play Store, so it asks first. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
Tap Install, then Open. The app guides you through the first steps and asks to use the microphone, which it needs to hear you read.
That message appears for every app installed outside the Play Store, and SpeakNow isn’t there yet. If it appears, tap More details, then Install anyway. Only install SpeakNow from this page.
Come back to this page and install the new file over the old one. Your progress is kept.
Read in a quiet place, hold the phone about 20 cm from your mouth, and wait for “Listening…” before you start. In the app, the free advanced analysis download (Offline content) gives the most precise scores.
Yes. The beta is completely free, with no ads.
Not yet. SpeakNow is for Android phones for now.
Only to download extra content, such as natural voices and more texts. After that, you can practise anywhere, even offline.
If you can read simple English sentences, you can use SpeakNow. Texts go from beginner to advanced, and you can practise with your own texts too.
Before switching, use Settings → Export my data in the app. You can restore it in the new version with Settings → Restore from a file.
Wait for “Listening…” before you speak, read at your normal pace, and avoid noisy places or Bluetooth headsets. For the most accurate results, install the free advanced analysis in Offline content.
